Work Experience

Last Wednesday was the first day of work experience and we got to see where we would be working for the next 10 weeks. I'm doing my work experience in the Birdcage Self Service Cafe in Avoca in Rathcoole. Honestly I was extremely nervous. I had never had a job before and didn't know what to expect!

After arriving I realised there was no need to be nervous because everyone was so friendly. I met with the manager and workers who showed me around the cafe. Eimhear S. is also working in the cafe so we were shown everything together. In the morning I worked at the hot food counter, serving food to customers. We took a break in the morning and afternoon for a half an hour and we were allowed free food. :) In between our breaks I worked on the floor, cleaning tables and collecting trays. At the end of the day I worked at the cakes counter serving cake and coffee. The cakes were amazing! I literally wanted to eat all of them. Luckily we both were allowed take home a free cake at the end of the day. It definitely tasted as good as it looked!

I'm looking forward to the next few Wednesdays of work experience in Avoca because the first day was really good and I want to see what other jobs I will be doing!
